Akshay Kumar Movies In Bollywood That Prove He’s A Modern Day Patriot

Akshay Kumar has done so many films on comedy, action, etc. Addition to this, he has also worked in patriotic films or films which give a message to the masses and also acted in films based on real-life incidents. So, here are 6 of those films that prove that Akshay Kumar is a modern day patriot:

Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo

This Anil Sharma directorial was a perfect film for him to have started his patriotic journey. He played an army officer in this movie who battles it out as a prisoner in Pakistan. Akshay was simply fabulous in this film.

Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty

It took a complete decade for Akshay to re-venture into this genre again. However, he chose to do it in a unique and entertaining way. Directed by AR Murgadoss, Holiday came out in 2014 and was declared a super hit at box office.

Baby

Continuing on his newly polished image, Akshay chose yet another patriotic thriller in the looks of Baby. Having him as a lethal undercover RAW agent who’s on a mission to take down bigtime terrorists, he once again proved his changing avatar was finding shape. The movie was a big hit in the BO.

Gabbar is Back

Gabbar is Back wasn’t a film based on the army or patriotism as a whole, its core was still pretty much laden with nationalistic morals and system’s efficiency. The film dealt with a topic like corruption and was loud enough to voice its message effectively to the masses. This was an immediate addition to the kind of films Akshay had been choosing of late. The audiences loved the movie very much.

Airlift

Another great movie by Akshay is Airlift. The movie was a huge success which was based on patriotism again. The film is based on real life incident which was based on the historic human evacuation from Kuwait. With a changed approach and subtly layered character, Akshay once again tasted success as patriotism came to his rescue, not for the first time.

Rustom

Rustom, another patriotic film, is the story of an ex-naval officer who kills his wife’s lover, Vikram, but it was a pre-planned murder. Rustom when was posted in London for several months inspecting an aircraft carrier that the Navy wants to purchase, but on inspection, it was found by Rustom that the carrier's hull was corroded, and it would have to be repaired and modified before the carrier could be transferred to India.
Vikram was in charge of the aircraft carrier, and he attempted to bribe him in order to convince him to say that the carrier is seaworthy. When Rustom attempted to notify the defence secretary in London, the secretary also attempted to bribe him and get the carrier to India. That is the reason, why he murdered him. Rustom once again has that tinge of nationalism that we think works well for Akshay. Rustom was also a superhit.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha

The film is a love story with an undercurrent of social transformation that has been unofficially linked to the Swach Bharat Abhiyan of the government by many. Based on a real-life story, it teaches a lesson on the importance of sanitary conditions and is once again a distant but patriotic approach of the actor create a difference in the society.

Pad Man

The film has set out to create social awareness about menstruation and how it's not a taboo but something entirely natural that women go through each month. The story is based on a chapter from Twinkle Khanna's book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad and has been inspired by the life and works of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham. Yet again Akshay emerges the social hero unsung patriot we are waiting to watch on screen.
Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel is a saying, but looking at the kind of success Akshay has earned off late, maybe patriotism is the first and only refuge he should stick to right now.

Gold

Another masterpiece of Akshay Kumar is this film Gold. The film Gold is historical sports-drama film which is based upon the national hockey team's title at the 1948 Summer Olympics. The film won several awards and also accolades.
